If there is a Drowing showing their location it would be wonderful. I'am not even sure the Takom Supports are Correct. Hope someone can help.

Hi Jim,

I've not seen any detailed drawing for the sponson cranes but think Takom have got it about right. A good measure of how well the have placed them is to see how the cables line up with the lifting hooks on the sponsons.

Sorry I couldn't give you a more definitive answer.

Helen

Interesting question! I'd always assumed that the sponson trestles simply rested on the hull roof plates without any fixed attachment. However, given that a sponson weighed about a ton, there must have been some way to attach or counter-balance the trestle during lifting. I don't see any bolt holes in the roof plates which lend themselves to this purpose.

I have seen a picture of Otazel with just the supports standing alone, granted it was after the sponsons where removed. They would have to be bolted down when they put the cranes on, otherwise they would be troublesome to mount without things moving al over the Place.  i was hoping to show just the supports alone on my mode. They probably were not in place when moving around, But they look Cool. Glad to have your ideas to chew on.

           Kindest Regards
