I have the Tankograd book about the A7V and the detail drawings raised some questions. On page 12 there are four drawings of the roof of the "turret". It shows the 1'st lot having eight vents in the hatch and the 2'nd lot with three. But when looking at the pictures that I can find that shows the hatch i find that two of the five Röchling armour tanks of the 1'st lot has six vents the other three I cant find pictures of.
Of the Krupp armoured tanks of the 1'st lot I found pictures of three of the five tanks and they have eight vents. Finally we have the ten tanks of the 2'nd lot. I found pictures of five of them and they have three vent.
Of course the ones I'm building are two Röchling tanks of the 1'lot that I don't find pictures of. Have anyone seen a pic of the hatch of 501 or 505 that show the vents?
I rebuilt mine with eight vents but I'm starting to suspect that there should only be six.
There should be two rows of three vents on the outside of the turret hatches of the 1st lot tanks. Two rows of four vents were on the inside. The Tankograd book is wrong on this. The (driver's) turret hatch had two layers only, therefore the number of vents on inside and outside was different.
