How good are 3D scanners, are they good to get precise accurate measurements, whats the error margin etc, are there thing they cant do. I was thinking of using a 3D scanner to measure up a vehicle, maybe hire someone to do the job than buy one. Measuring by hand with a tape measure pen and pencil can be such a trying job, especially if you forget a vital measurements you have overlooked and have to re visit the place again. Not sure if you guys have used them or have any good links. I wondered if the big modelling companies use 3D scanners, not sure what they use or how the do it, anyone know?
