Mark IV tank #8021 "Hielan Laddie"

I've received an email from someone whose grandfather was a gunner in #8021 when it was ditched, broke down and was abandoned

on 23/4/1918.  It seems that there are no images of #8021 on line and I said I'd ask on the forum if anyone has or knows of an image

of this tank. Anyone?

Charlie

Not sure whether 8021 or 8022. Seems to be a runner.8021 or 8022.jpg

Thank you.

Do you have any information about the context of the image?

The tank looks as if it has taken some damage since the unditching beam is missing, the track is partially broken and left gun mount is broken -

the gun itself is lying just inside the rear door. There's no sign of the Lewis gun on the left sponson.

It does - it could have been recovered when the German Army pushed the British lines back during Operation Michael - #8021 was

ditched on 24 Mar 1918.

The Google Landships site says it had another life in the 12th Battalion in August 1918 so perhaps the British recaptured it after the

Battle of Amiens. (https://sites.google.com/site/landships/home/lists/mk-iv-tanks/8001-8100)

I'm extremely sceptical concerning the entry of 8021's second life with 12th Bn. Captured as a runner, it certainly should have seen a second life as Beutetank. In case the picture shows 8022 'Hummingbird', its second life was that of 'Fritz' of Abt. 14 (one of their Fritzes, not sure whether first or second, but the one shown in most pictures).
