Having just returned to your site after being away quite a long time (and being away from modeling WW1 ground machines longer) I have a small request. I make this public because I think there are others out there who feel the same way - or it may also be it already exists on the site and I missed it.
I would really like to see an article by you on how you make your "mats", your scenery. I've always enjoyed looking at your gallery not only because of the well-made models, but also because of the background and backdrops you provide. They make the whole scene come alive!
So, because of this I would really like to see an article on how you create the scenery.
Thank you!

Good to see you again. (BTW: I never miss Internet Modeler - you are doing a great job there. As you can see in the links section: I hold your site as no 1.)
I've had that flattering request before, and now I think it's time to do something about it.
But before I sit down and do that article, I must reveal the secret behind the vignettes in the Model Gallery section. And I call them vignettes, as they are not proper dioramas. Due to lack of space (one on the reasons why I'm into 1/72) I can't make dedicated dioramas for each and every model. Instead I have a number of terrain boards that can be modified in a simple way - mainly trees added. And when a model is finished, I put them on the terrain board, add props and figures, and take the photos. The model and the props are then removed: the model is put in a glass cabin, the terrain board is put back in storage together with the other ones.
The number of terrain boards are slowly but surely growing. I'm soon to do one Winter Landscape, and then I have others planned.
