Peter Jackson's Mk IV + other stuff in Re-enactment
Permalink

The wonderful Youtube has these clips of Peter Jackson's Mk IV taking part in a tremendous WWI display in New Zealand, together with a Rolls-Royce A/C, some (unseen) German ordnance, and lots of WWI aircraft. For such an impressive gathering I'm surprised there hasn't been more (and better) footage. Maybe someone knows of some. This is excellent, nonetheless:

Incidentally, Mr. Jackson is now so appallingly wealthy that he commissioned one of the companies that produces models for his films to create a one-off set of 54mm New Zealanders in Gallipoli dress. The figures are fantastic, but will not be produced commercially. Enter this site, go to Select a Range, then Peter Jackson Figures.

I know. Highly evocative. I like the way the woman jumps out of the way of something moving at 3mph.

I was wondering how authentic it is, and have managed to find the following: The tank is built around a Caterpillar D6 dozer and this ensures that it squeaks, clatters and clanks in the right way and makes the ground shake. The body is made from plywood, mild steel angle iron and tin sheeting, but then coated with epoxy and painted in such a way that you can be 2 inches from the sides and be totally convinced that it's real.

It also reverses into the parking space with great confidence, so the interior layout must be an improvement on the original.

Just found some more footage, showing German 77s, transport, and a bit more tank: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR5tY_Ylreo

There's more. The re-enactment took place at the Blenheim Air Show in NZ. There is a rumour that a further 2 tanks will feature in the next one, whether WWI I don't know. However, PJ has recently completed a short feature film called 'Crossing The Line'. "The twelve minutes of footage features WW1 trench warfare and an aerial battle between Royal Flying Corp and German Air Service biplanes." It has been made to test some new camera technology, and you can see a 30" clip on the Net. No tanks in it as far as I know, but here's a still from Blenheim to be going on with:

 Hello Gentleman
I wonder if Peter Jackson is planning a Movie, It would surely be incredible if he produced it.
I have also taken a look at the master figures Perry Miniatures have produced for Mr. Jackson as well. They are incredible, I hope they are planning some wonderful diorama with these little beauties. It would be a shame not to display them in that way.
Its also a shame they have no planes to produce and sale them publicly. cry Ohhh, what money can buy!!!!! Just imagine what one could have produced.Sorry, just day dreaming.awwbiggrin
 All the Best

Tim R
