1/72 scale M98/09 howitzer

Hi all!
Here's my latest finished WW1-project, the German M98/09 howitzer. I've used the Hät kit as a base for much further detailing. I made the same improvements as Peter Kempf, but I choose to replace the shield with a scratchbuilt one, as the original was too thick.

Yes, I know the seats and footrests are too small. I'll correct that on the next one I make (after all, I got four of them in the Hät kit, and I've only used one for spares).:)

Very nice work - I feel bad about using the HäT shield on my model. One thing, though: shouldn't the shield be slightly curved?

Hello Peter,

Maybe they where mostly curved shields as to see at the drawing below.

But by the fact it was produced by Rheinmetall and Krupp and the fact nearly

to the end of the war there may have been different types by faster and simply

producing.

best regards

Gerd

Thank you for the comments everyone!smile That's one of the best things about this forum; I've never seen someone's work posted here ignored. Pat yourselves on the back everyone!

Peter,
You're right, and it was curved when I started it, but along construction it became less and less curved. Now it's almost straight. Another thing to improve on my next M98/09 I guess. smile
Or I could always go with Gerd's  explanation. biggrin
