I recently visited Hungary and picked up a book on "Foreign AFVs in Hungarian service 1920-1945". This book is written by Biro Adam, Eder Miklos and Sarhidai Gyula, as far as Im told, well known researchers in Hungary.
In this book there is some info on LK II in hungarian service, I havent got it all translated (its in hungarian of course) but so far Ive found out that according to this book Hungary bought 14 LK IIs (in pieces) from Germany with "Swedish assistence" (this sounds very interesting since Sweden was offered to buy 15 LK IIs from Firma Steffen & Heyman in Charlottenburg, Berlin, but this was turned down since Sweden got a better offer from Firma Uge G m b h. So maybe the swedish diplomats somehow acted as a middlehand between the Hungarians and firma Steffen & Meyer, sources: SPHFs archives). According to the text these tanks were not assembled until the early thirties when only six (or maybe seven) were assembled and used by the "Police acadamy" (RUISK) together with some Fiat 3000 B.
What makes this book even more interesting are the two photos, one of a LK II with a "soldier" in front of it, this we have seen before and it has been said that this is a Swedish Strv m21 but the soldier does NOT wear a Swedish unform but hypothetical it could be a foreign soldier "visiting" Sweden of course. The other photo though shows something else, its blurry and taken from a distance but one can clearly make out two LK II with MG turrets as well as two Fiat 3000B in the foreground and some trucks/armouredcars in the background.
This photo can not have been taken in Sweden since we never had any Fiat 3000Bs here.
Does anyone have any insight in these matters, in Hungarian armourhistory etc and I dont meen old books written 30 years ago but genuine info based on reliable sources.
