My "TANK JOY RIDES" (after the war ex-Tank Corps officers put a platform onto a Mark IV and made tank joy rides at Southend-on-Sea) diorama takes shape. I would like to add a Smer Packard Laundaulet 1912 car for this street scene. Unfortunately the Smer model kit is not very detailed. For example it lacks of pedals and there's no instrument panel at all.
Are there any drawings or photos which show the interior of this car (or similar Packard vehicles...)?
Every help is much appreciated, thank you very much!
You should probably search for pictures of luxury cars of the era... the instrumentation was sparse, the dashes were mostly of mahogany or machined metal sheet. As every car body was made more or less to order, a wide variation could happen, as to suit the taste of the car's owner, especially with these luxury rides like landaulets. I have the Smer kit and looks a bit thick in some of the parts, perhaps you may refine some of the thickish features, like body roof, fenders, etc. for a more scale appareance. D.
Thank you very much for your interesting posts! These are useful suggestions and informations!
I had the opportunity to have a closer look at other Airfix 1/32 scale oldtimers. I found that the "1902 DE DIETRICH" car has got a nicely detailed undercarriage and pedals and an instrument panel, too.
I think I'll stop the work on the Smer "Packard Landaulet" and switch to the Airfix "De Dietrich" model kit.
