Noticed these photos of a 60 pounder on the Landships website - anyone know where this 60 pdr is? The website says that it was taken by someone from the USA, but hoping it's somewhere a bit closer to me than that! Also if anyone knows of any other 60 pounders surviving (except the one at IWM which is in a terrible place for photography, as I found out yesterday), i'd be very interested.
Tell me where you are. I have a list of almost all Great War artillery located in the USA; there are a host of 60Pdr pieces in America, primarily in the east, south, and midwest.
I agree about thedifficulties in taking good photographs at the IWM, as there is insufficient room an poor light around some of the exhibits. If a tripod and fisheye lens is out of the question, (and I understand the staff disapprove of attempts to move the exhibits), you do still have the option of Woolwich, which surely must cover the 60pdr in some detail. The website is uninformative about exhibits, and I have not contacted a curator, but as you are in the vicinity, it must surely be worth the visit. (Unless the word "Arsenal" is anathema to you...!) Looking forward to more photographs from you.....
I should have known you were a Brit; my appologies, sir. I reside near two of these pieces that though displayed outside, are in good condition. Both are fitted with traction wheels , and have the late trail attachment for a prime mover. I'm not certain what you are after, but I have taken a number of detail close-ups to capture the above enhancements to the gun.

Rob, who started this thread, is (probably) a Brit too. I would guess somewhere near Leicester, whose Rugby team is the Tigers.
I would be interested in getting the location of any Great War Artillery pieces in Michigan, New York or Pennsylvania states. Or Ontario, Canada.
Michael Taylor, the Woolwich Arsenal is better for taking photos, and the staff are incredibly friendly. I took quite a few photos when I was there, and you can see them in my flickr pages. But, as I recall, they don't have a 60 pdr.

The South African War Museum in Johannesburg has a 60 pdr modified to take pneumatic tyres, two per side. Apparently this modification was done for the battles in E Africa during WWII. If you want photos, just shout. Tony
Whoops, forgot about this thread - i'm originally from near Leicester, however the Tiger part is from the nickname of the Leicestershire Regiment (long since disbanded), who i'm currently putting together the WWI uniform for. Unfortunately i'm currently living in London while i'm at University, one of the few positive aspects of this is that i'm able to visit the various military museums in the city very easily, especially the RAF Museum as I live on the same street as it!
Rob, this posting is from Mike, the person who took the photos of the 60 pounder in the USA. Its actually located in the town of Bloomingdale New Jersey. The only other one ive seen in person is in the Virginian War Musuem in Newport News VA. I know of several others in the US. The main page also describes 2 resources for arty pieces in the US.
