two question about German 105mm gun and howitzer
Permalink

I need a picture of the Krupp 105mm field howitzer M. 1916. AFIK It was introduced into the German Army in mid-October 1916 and mass production began in March 1917. It had a shorter barrel (L/20) than the more common Rheinmethall 105mm field howitzer M. 1916 and it used the carriage of the 12cm howitzer sold in Switzerland in 1912. I would like to compare these two light howitzers. Can anybody help me?
Another question does anybody know a 105mm L/47 Krupp used in little number during WW1? Many thanks!

I think you can find what you need here:

You are correct, there are two versions of the 10,5cm lFH 1916. One is the much more common Rheinmetal type illustrated on the Landships & Lovett Artillery site and then there is the Krupp designed type. The Krupp piece looks like a smaller version of the 15cm lg.sFH 1913 and has the same sort of bands on the barrel. I have attached a line drawing of the 10,5cm lFH 98/09, the lFH 1916 and the lFH 1916 (KP) from a French manual.

The only surviving example (I know of) of a Krupp designed 10,5cm lFH 16 is in Columbia, SC, USA.  It was in the Fort Jackson Museum warehouse (not on display) but was moved to the South Carolina National Guard Museum also in Columbia, SC about eight years ago.

I have attached a better image of the 10,5cm (KP) lFH 1916 taken from "Entwicklung des Artilleriematerials in Weltkrieg".

I belive I have more information  on this piece but it may take time to find.
