Hello, I have just seen in this forum some commentaries from Vilkata & other good comrades on the bizarre, lovely idea of Austin & Lanchester armored cars fitted with Killen Strait tractor running gear. Unfortunately I could´nt open the images attached, so up to now my scratchbuilder nut mind is flying out of chains...I would really love to see that images or having additional info... Thank You in advance! All the best Eduardo
Dear Philthydirtyanimal, apologies for my late response. Did not know that it was a DelaunayBelleville armoured car chasis (by the way, the photo is a nice close up!). But indeed I am re-viewing in this forum because there is a writen reference of such combination, involving at least a Lanchester and probably an Austin. Just give me some time. Thank You again!
This was discussed way back in this forum and I did a drawing of what a Lanchester KS combination might have looked like. It all came out of a reference to a Russian unit fitting some surplus Lancester bodies on KS tractors being manufactured near St Petersberg (Petrograd). The discussion petered out without really confirming or negating this account
and it does seem to just peter out. And the picture links dont work (for me).
The Sueter book (Evolution of The Tank), comes up occasionally on ebay and sells for around 200 dollars (US dollars, not Zimbabwean). On abebooks it can be had for around 300 US dollars. I am not sure that I will be checking that reference in the near future!
(which links to the first thread). And says more or less the same as what we have established; that this vehicle is probably fanciful speculation, but is still an interesting 'what-if'.

I am very grateful to You all, Philty, Centurion, Ironsides! My humild opinion is that in order of probablities, it is likely to me that some turrets from Lanchester A.C./(Austins also planned?) have been adapted as a request for an all armored and turreted version of what seemed to be by those times a promising use for a promising piece of equipment. Such adaptations did exist and are in some cases well documented, as for example the Kegresse conversions to already existing west european car chassis, or the up-armored versions of CLAYTON; ALLIS CALMERS,ETC.tractors. I am playing with the possibility of building a little example in 1/35, in time I will recall for Your respected opinion. Eduardo
