I think its the best of the wargames variants... I dont like metal much otherewise Id probarbly go for the Reviresco models.... all in all as you say Milicast take the prize for best model...
I'm building presently a Rolls Royce from Scale Link (http://www.scalelink.co.uk/acatalog/Vehicles___Scale_1_76__OO_.html) which isn't too bad. To turn it into a 1914 version, I'm changing the wheels with a custom made PE set with spokes. It's going to be the RNAS version in naval grey.
Not sure if Matador and Scale Link are the same models; the Scale Link model is in white metal, whereas Matador is mostly resin. Nevertheless, I'll take your word for it. I had the photo etchings made by Grigorov, based on the wheels of Retrokit's Sava. I do have a lot of these wheels but am not planning to sell them, though I think I can spare some. If you come to Trucks 'n Tracks (I'll be doing a workshop there on decals), we can work things out. Decals for the Rolls Royce are as from now on sale through my website www.blackliondecals.nl, but I'll make a separate posting on my latest WW-1 releases.
Unfortunately I have no idea where in the world I will be at the end of February! But if I am in England I will try to come along.
Just out of curiosity, and not to put any pressure on at all, but have you ever considered the idea of Black Lion Decals selling PE stuff?
I back-dated Milicast's Rolls Royce a couple of years ago and had the devil of a time getting the wheels right! I used a PE fret from Scalelink for the spokes, and drilled out some shirt buttons for the tyres! I am sure no-one else has tried to drill buttons, so you can take my word that it is not much fun!
Somewhere on this forum in another thread like this one, about RRs, a member mentions they used the wheels from an aircraft kit. I don't know if the plane had six wheels (or eight if you put two spare wheels on the side of the Rolls Royce!) but after canibalisation (?) like that, it certainly had none!

Interesting thought to start selling PE sets; I have the means to design them and the contacts to have them produced. I only don't have the faintest idea what sort of PE sets I'd have to issue...
For the RR wheels, I'll be using the SAVA wheels, which are approximately the same size. They're probably not 100 % correct, but I'll settle for them and they're much better than Reviresco's spoked wheels or airplane wheels.
Hi Michel, great decals by the way, dare I say it..A PE Wire wheels conversion kit for RR Cars, seems be what many are after its certainly a problem that takes a good deal to overcome and with the number of models about should be popular...
Solfig (the former French part of Retrokit) is now issuing three versions of the 1914 RR; the standard model, the command model with higher turret and the Mid-East version with open turret.
Here's a photo of my own model: the old Scale Link model with PE spoked wheels.
And I see that a company called Black Lion Decals makes a set of decals for WW1 British and Belgian Armoured Cars and Trucks that includes markings for a 1914 Rolls Royce
Those Retrokit Roller's look really nice, I tried building the Reviresco one, ended up as a disaster! I thought the higher turret wasn't just for command Rollers, but all of the ones used on the western front in 1917?
At least half of the body and the turret are already done! Please please please do a Uralite coated version with optional cupola. And openable radiator doors/visor!
