i am doing a researchpaper on the belgian anti-aircraft artillery during WWI. I have found some informations that says that the belgians used two types of AA-carriages: the Schneider and the ACMA(T). I am having a hard time finding additional information on those two types of undercarriages as well as pictures. Does anybody have some ideas?
In late 1915 Belgian artillery was largely being re-equiped with French ordnance. Other than the auto-mounted AA guns, France did not develope mobile AA batteries. However, two types of static mounts were factory designed and built for air defense. (There are quite a few pics from the period illustrating these guns in position; some of which have appeared on this forum.) In addition, field pieces were occasionally positioned on extemporised elevated platforms, and it is reasonable to assume this crude practice was employed by Belgium troops as well.
Sadly, I do not. However, if this is a serious project, and you are determined, I would suggest a drive to Chatellerault one day. The information is there; because of time restrictions however, I could not peruse the files during my last visit some years ago. Again, if you're commited to the project, you may want to arrange an appointment with the current directeur for permission to examine their material. Good wishes !
