Amiens yet again.

Was rather startled to come across in mid-browse in Waterstone's a book on Amiens that I'd never heard of before. By McWilliams and Steel, viewable here: http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=2_Gy6SoTYsQC&dq=mcwilliams+steel+amiens&printsec=frontcover

It seems to predate Charles Messenger's book by a number of years.

As discussed here http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=63528&p=3&topicID=7687497 and here http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=63528&p=3&topicID=7648759 the exact number of Tanks deployed at Amiens has proved remarkably elusive. This is the figure given by Messrs. McWilliams and Steel:

324 Heavy
96 Medium Mk.A
120 Supply
22 Gun Carriers

Total 562

Renault 72

Grand total: 634

It's claimed that the book took them 30 years to write. That might suggest that they've looked into it quite carefully.
