About BAKP 20 from Charleroi
Permalink

Bonsoir,

It's just an hypothesis for the Bakp 20 factory : Marchienne-au-pont and not Charleroi.

Bonjour and thank you.

Also it's really not good to speak of Charleroi for BAKP 20.

About the" Ateliers Germain", the factory's adress was at n° 50
rue de Trazegnies. The factory is just on the limit between Monceau-sur-Sambre and Marchienne-au- Pont. The most important part of the factory is in Marchienne-au-Pont (Est of the railway).
Metallique factory is, after the sambre river, south of the ateliers Germain.
The Monceau-sur-Sambre railway station iwas on Marchienne-au-Pont territory.
It's probably for all thess reasons that the two villages's name are used about this german panzer units.
Do you Known the name ot the factory used in Roux ? This village is North of Monceau-sur-Sambre, always along the railway.

Michel

Bon jour,
The B.A.K.P. 20 was located at the
Société Anonyme des Ateliers Germain and the Laminoir St.Fiacre. Its office was at 29, rue de Clicotia.
At Roux, the captured detachments used no factory, they were dispersed over the town.
At Marchienne-au-Pont, the A7V crews were quartered in the school.

Merci for the Laminoir St Fiacre.

On the end of my topic on forum 14-18, you can found three postcards of Ateliers Germain's factory. I think it was the repair center of BAKP 20.

The inside pictures match. The outside pictures show a different building. The Ateliers Germain that housed the B.A.K.P. 20 were not level with the railway, but there was a ramp where rail wagons were pulled up by a winch.
