Unknown Memorial

Hi All!

I just want to share this with you.

I found this picture in an old book I just bought. It is called "Festschrift zur Denkmalweihe der deutschen Kraftfahrtruppen am 7. Juni 1931" (honorary publicationof the induction of the memorial of the German Motor Troops on June 7th 1931).

This is memorialwas totaly unknown to me. It was destroyed after WW2 and it seems that there are no existing fotos available.

Regards
Chris

I guess it is more or less fantasy.

Hello everybody (a newcomer to this list),

the picture shows the official memorial of the German Kraftfahrtruppe (transportation troops), inaugurated on June 7, 1931 in Potsdam. The inscriptionwas rather prosaic and said "1914-1918. Den Deutschen Kraftfahrtruppen" plus an Iron Cross and the letter "K".

The vehicle on the base is very strange indeed. I assume that it was designed as an idealized composition carrying typical elements of the A7V, the MarkIV, and possibly of an AFV used during the war - in order not to offend members of the different crews. For another perspective see:

(search for "Kraftfahrtruppen")

The memorial was located along the Michendorfer Chaussee and was presumably demolished after 1945 by the Russian or East German authorities.
