About 1 year ago I posted some pictures of my first Mark IV tanks in 1/72 scale.
I am creating a diorama of the battle at Cambrai 1917,with the complete H-battalion.
On my site, waterama.nl,there are pictures of all the tanks I finished.
Michel Boer of Black Lion Decals made the decals for me,without this I could not have achieved this,so thank you,Michel!wink

92 Years ago the real tanks whent into action,20 November, please have a look at my models, and remember al the brave man from the Tank Corps.

Greetings,Hans.

Hans,

Very interested in following this one. I've plans for a 1/72 Cambrai diorama myself, but on a much smaller scale. However, I cannot seem to get your link to work.

Are those Emhar 1/72s? Those are the only one's I'm aware of ... unless someone like Airfix is making them and I don't know of them.

Cheers!

OMG! The link is working now and I can't even fathom the scale of this project! I particularly love the way you made the fascines!

Hallo Jason, thank you for your kind words.
My plan is to make the dio the same size as my Waterloo-dio.
I am now working at the first plates, including the trenches.
Pictures will follow soon.

Greetings,Hans.

Definitely. Can't wait to see more.

I've bought what we call here in the states a "whisk broom" to use to make my fascine for my 1/35 Mk IV that I plan on trying your method with. Did you just dip them in straight white glue, or did you water it down? Ratio?

Hallo Jason,I used white glue/water aprox. 50/50.
Let it dry for one or two days.
Good luck!

Greetings,Hans.

Thanks, Hans. Will let you know how I fare. By the way, noticed you are in the Nederlands. I'm USAF and spent about 30 days at Soesterberg back in the early '90s. Totally loved the place. Those were back in simpler times, though. I'll never forget some of your soldiers telling me that America was like a big brother to them. The people were awesome and Utrecht was a blast!

Hello Jason,I live about 80 km. to the north of Soesterberg,in IJsselmuiden, where the river IJssel flows into the IJsselmeer. In the seventies I was stationed also for 2 months in Soesterberg.
I was trained to be a mechanic of Centurion-tanks.
I think that is why I love (old) tanks, and build them in small-scale.

Greetings,Hans.

That is a great looking batch of tanks you have there, Hans.

Can I ask how you made the rivets on the extra armour plates you added to the back of the models?

Hi Hans,

indeed very inspiring! And an attack on my self discipline..deliberating to take the snow as an excuse, have a day of and sneak into the model shop.

Hello, the first pictures of my "trenches" for Cambrai-dio.The plates are 60 by 60 c/m.
There will be 4 with trenches, representing the trench in front of Ribecourt.
A part of this village will also be on the diorama.

Greetings,Hans.

Sorry,Commander in Chief,I did not answer your question earliercry
I made the rivets with a sharpe knife,by twisting it very gently at the back of the platicard plate. It is not the perfect way,but most of the tanks will be to far away on my dio,I think it will look good from a distance.

btw,the colour of the trenches is just the first painting, more "realistic" colours follow when the 4 plates with trenches are finished.

Greetings,Hans.

OH ... MY ... GAWD! This thing is gonna be HUGE!!!

I think I will have Cambrai envy when I get my tiny Cambrai dio complete. I think I shall be too ashamed to post pictures
ashamed.gif

Can't wait to see this one. Two questions that I may have missed in the thread ...

1. What is your estimated time of completion?
2. Where will the final resting place be?

Great stuff!!!

Cheers!
