By Lt-Col Paul Malmassari, French expert on early AFVs. Study begun with pre-WW1 (18th +19th century armoured vehicles/projects) and then goes on with 1914-1915 trials , then early AFVs and finally AFV developments that were not to be. A lot of new illustrations including many blueprints. a must-buy if your interest is in tank origins
It's offered at under 10 Euros, maybe even cheaper. But it seems to be due out in April. Looks exceedingly interesting.

Oh! I found a couple of sites that said April. Then I stand corrected, JCC. Sorry.

Ah. I see the problem. It was published in December but isn't available by mail order. Journeaux.fr says it's épuisé - sold out. But you can ask to be notified when there's a reissue.

That's very helpful, Michel, but it's a bit out of my way. 1200 km aller-retour . . .
However, librairie-ac have now been kind enough to reply as follows:
Ce fascicule sera de nouveau disponible d'ici peu.
Not falling over themselves to be accommodating, but I believe that means it will be available again shortly.
Does anyone, perhaps someone in France, have a better idea? I have Euros . .

I found mine at my local book-store... It was the last available one !
It is an interesting book if you can read French.
EDIT : maybe there is a solution through that website : http://www.madeinpresse.fr/numero/la-guerre-14-18-hs-3-111701.html
They advertise for a digital copy... It seems that you only have to choose a non-existent bookstore and then they will sell you a digital version if I understand correctly.

Have finally got this book. It's fantastic. Lots of drawings of Schneider variants (including a light Tank), the Boirault articulated Schneiders & St. Chamonds, the Gabet Tank, et cetera. Also an earlier Delaunay-Belleville than the one that looks like a stretched FT.
I think some of the info is a bit dubious - I don't believe the French trialled a Killen-Strait, for example - but otherwise it's a gold mine.
There's also a pic and drawing of the FCM 1A that I'd not seen before. Wasn't someone asking about that a while ago?

For the FCM 1A, the all-round triptich is in 1K91 SHD's document from Lt Colonel Duvignac. Duvignac was lieutenant during WW1 in the Artillerie Spéciale.
I have photos of this triptich and work on it to make a good size drawings in colors . . . . It's not finish, and it's for this reason, I don't answer to last Ironsides topics on FCM 1A. . . . I would finish it before . . . Too late !).
On photo (page 73) from FCM prototype, you can see a square cupola. If you look at the post war photos in 503° RCC camp, it's a round cupola. I am not able to say what kind of model is with square or round cupola . . . .
Paul Malmassari don't explain that the name given for CA projet with turret was CA 4. (name given by the French tank committee).
All CA 3 and 4 triptich are in SHD 16N 2131 documents. There is 2 turrets'project for CA 4.
That's where I got mine from. They were much more helpful than librairie-ac .

Hi Tanker, Thanks very much (James too) for sending the drawings... I'm still looking for a couple of other views either as photos or drawings, rear view and top down mostly if anybody has anything...
