I don't think this book has been mentioned here, before now. My apologies if it has.

Seems rather interesting.

Hi PDA,
thanks for letting us know! It looks promising, ca 100 photo's in it. All about the Belgian "campaign" in Russia, as the review tells.

regards, Kieffer

Thanks PDA. Looks like a fascinating book.

One of my big photographic regrets is not having bid more aggressively when a photo album from the Belgian armored car contingent to Russia was offered for sale about six years ago. Hopefully, this new book will include lots of images of that are as good or better than that lost album!

There are some details about the Belgian cars in Russia here

http://www.philatelicdatabase.com/postal-history/wwi-belgium-armoured-car-division-in-russia/

That is some story!

Hi all,

yes that's really some story! 7 "Belgiski" as they were called by the Russians found the love of their life in Russia, bringing them home to Belgium after a quite complicated journey.
Must have been very interesting grand dads...

regards, Kieffer

Does anyone know other books on Belgian armoured cars?

I know about this:

Champagne, Jacques. Armoured Vehicles of the Belgian Army 1914-1974. Les Vehicules blindes a L'Armee Bele. Everling, 1975 (text is both in English and French).

Unfortunately it is almost impossible to find this book. Did anyone read it?

The book by champagne is mostly a description with pictures of the different equipment used. There is some unique information (eg successor to the T15 tank)

I don't know of any other books about Belgian armoured cars. I think that is a shame; they had some of the best of the war.

Maybe, for me, the language barrier prevents me from searching well. The title book of this thread is written in Dutch, and I imagine Belgian small edition books would be written in either Flemish or French, neither of which I speak well (I can, of course, order 'a beer' or 'more beer' but that doesn't really make me a polyglot).

I have a similar problem with the fantastic armoured car books written in Russian (except in Russian I can only say 'yes' and 'vodka').

So if someone can do a good search in Flemish, or Hungarian, Urdu, or Mandarin (etc) and then post a picture of the book cover, that would be awesome!

Thanks for reply, cdr. Do you have any idea where can I find this book? It seems like it is very rare. Not one copy on eBay, Abebooks, Amazon and so on.

Hi PDA,

looks to me the publisher is the "Davidsfonds" in Leuven, Belgium.
Try google them, their e mail is: info@davidsfonds.be.
If you need more help let me know, that is in Dutch/Flemish..Urdu is not my forte!

best regards Kieffer

I'm keeping it.

The tankmuseum part of the Brussels army museum has a newsletter with frequent articles on armoured cars

Hi PDA,

sorry, I misread something I guess: which book are you looking for, Reizigers etc. or the Champagne copy?
