A Treasury of War Poetry: British and American Poems of the World War, 1914-1919

Available from the archives in a wealth of formats at A Treasury of War Poetry: Second Series, published 1919 and divided, slightly bizarrely:

I. AMERICA
II. ENGLAND AND AMERICA
III. ENGLAND
IV. SCOTLAND
V. IRELAND
VI. BELGIUM
VII. FRANCE
VIII. ITALY
IX. SERBIA, GREECE, AND ROUMANIA
X. CANADA
XI. AUSTRALASIA
XII. YPRES
XIII. OXFORD
XIV. REFLECTIONS
XV. INCIDENTS AND ASPECTS
XVI. POETS MILITANT
XVII. KEEPING THE SEAS
XVIII. THE AIRMEN
XIX. THE WOUNDED
XX. THE FALLEN
XXI. WOMEN AND THE WAR
XXII. PEACE

(Ah, no pigeons, dogs or horses smile.gif).

Probably a good place to be looking for a contemporary line or two to add to an exhibit placard or plaque, certainly a collection inviting some quiet reflection and anamnesis.
