Hi Josh, you can do that, no problem and in your case, when it's a small spot you can easily correct that

Hi FR73 Ebay has loads... most decent model suppliers should stock it or something similar.. spray varnish too,  personally  I only spray prime and use mattcote thinned applied with a brush to seal the paintwork/decals and give a final matt finish....  unless its shiny in which case an acrylic varnish.... dont use glosscote it never drys....

Got some decal set, and just wanted to know do you apply it under the decal like an adhesive or over it like varnish?

Kind Regards, Josh.

Do they make spray enamel varnish or can I use acyrilic varnish over enamel I know you can't use acrylic paint over enamel, but is  the same true for finishing sprays? (I ask because I've been testing lacquer on a scrap piece of plastic I primed and painted for the purpose, and it lifted the paint and primer right off.)

Regards, Josh

Josh,

Better stick to using only Vallejo and Lifecolor. Both have primers, matt finish and loads of different colors. Vallejo even has a very fine structured plastic putty, which works for me much better than Milliput or Revell putty. Vallejo also offers a choice between regular acrylic paints and Vallejo Air, which you can use directly in your airbrush. If you google the main Vallejo website, you should be able to find there a local Vallejo dealer. Otherwise, I would recommend Dax Magic in Holland, who stock the complete Vallejo range.

Michel.

Well, against resin, Metal, and my decals Lacquer worked well. It didn't effect anything but plastic. I figure I could Just keep finishing plastic kits in my Humbrol varnish. since most plastic kits come with standard decal transfers, so far this worked pretty well regular decals like on a Revell plane or Emhar tank didn't seem to be effected at all.
I used testors decal set and testors dullcote lacquer over the Black lion Decals, and it held up very well. they  look beautiful. hope to post pics soon.

Warmest regards, Josh (And many thanks to Michel)

oh quick question my emhar a7v has an unpleasant looking shine on it from the humbrol varnish i used on it would it be possible being that its a plastic kit, to use the lacquer on it? everything else that i sprayed that had varnish on it it took the shine away however these were resin and white metal kits and i was just wondering if you could do the same thing on plastic?

Warmest regards, Josh.
