I hope this works. It is the Airfix Mk2 converted to a supply tank. I still have a lot to do before I can paint it.20100504_7.JPG

That is astounding! I can now see why you don't have the time to write a brief article for Landships2!

Thanks PDA.  I really appreciate the kind remarks, but I will be more than happy to write a short article for Landships 2.  My only question is should I include pictures or just text?

Its up to you. Just text is fine, I imagine, if we could include the pictures you have posted on this forum. Your consent is required, because there is a difference between 'in public' or 'made public' and 'public domain' (just in case David Bailey is reading this as well).

My own personal fascination is with how you made the rivets, and what colour paints you use. But I'm sure everybody else has a totally different list of questions!

Images are really important in Web articles - research shows that reading comprehension is about 70% off a screen compared to printed text - images help bridge the "comprehension gap". Also - the Web is predominantly in English with a multi-lingual audience - images can help people who struggle with English.

Regards,

Charlie

I can do the pictures and yes, you can use the picture I have put on the forum. As to the rivets thet are Archer Fine Transfers Surface Details #1 Rivets/Screws. They are resin details that are mounted on clear decal film. They are very easy to apply and the film is easy to use. I have no connection with Archer. I am just a very happy customer.
Thank you all for the kind remarks and advice.

For those of you that have the Surface Details this is what I did. Measure the lenght you want and trim the clear flim as close to the rivet as possible. Next take a brush and lay a strip of Pledge with Future Floor Wax on to the plastic. Soak the decal and lay it on the Future. This  adds to the adhesion of the decal and it is needed. I rubbed off a strip of revits by not using the wax. You may be able to use model flat coat if you are not able to get the Pledge with Future. The clear backing is very strong and the rivets go on very easy. If you need any more help let me know as I am more then haappy to answer any questions.

They are resin rivets applied to a clear film backing. They have texture and are not just a decal on a decal. They make a series of details from foundry markings to serial numbers. They are applied to bare plastic and then painted over.

Superb, i'm going to have a go at making a Mk 2 Supply for a Cambrai diorama - do you know when the silencer and cab roof hatch came into use? Also, is there any additional detail to the rear, ie a storage box?

The silencer was added around 1917 and I think the stowage boxes were too. The silencers were field made and more to stop fires then muffel the exhaust.
