I have been doing a lot of research into the Male sponsons and while I don't have any real accurate drawings for now I have decided to go ahead and do some more work on it. This latest change involves adding a .040x.060 strip stryene to the edge of the gun turret opening. I also added .020 on the inside of the over head opening to increase the thickness in this area. For the turret I used 3/8 plastic tubing. I drilled two holes roughly the same diameter as the Emhar kit for the gun opening but instead of centring it I lowered it closer to the bottom as per the Landships Mk IV Walk Around. The bottom of the opening is .060 from the turret bottom. I then took a razor saw and cut the gun sight slit. When you make the cut be sure the saw is in line with the gun opening as per the real tank. I sawed down approxamately 7/32 or .218. After this I cut the back out so I can thin the inside walls easier. Since the sighting slit does not go all the way to the top I put a .015 piece of plastic in the saw cut just a little below th top and sanded it down. Next I will make the 6 Pounder for the turret.
thank you! You did a great deal of work in measuring and scaling which is very helpfull! As, to my opinion the kit's original turrets are one of the biggest flaws, replacing them is really an improvement.
