It appears only Males were used as supply Tanks - the tiny door of the Mk I and Mk II female sponson door would make distributing the supplies very difficult
Rob is correct with regards to the sponson although it would have been possible, albeit difficult, to fit converted male sponsons to a female tank. From a modelling point of view it would still look like a converted male tank. No tailwheels and a large covered box at the rear and a roof top box, but not the same box as that fitted to the roof of a Mk IV. I'm guessing you've started covering the openings of the airfix female sponsons. If so, you could build a wireless tank. It will require a fair bit of interior detail to be scratchbuilt, however.
PDA in the rewrite of the Mark I-III article says that the supply tanks could tow a "train" of up to 3 sledges, each sledge carrying 10 tons of supplies. Unfortunately haven't got an image of a supply tank towing sledges on Landships II. The sledges were made locally in the Central Workshops in france.
Well, thanks for all the info, especially about the sledges, but the problem is ... ... I've already built it, when suddenly it occurred to me if weather they existed. Shame, it had the best comouflage scheme that I have ever done, and also had a little resin baggage bundle, which I had been saving for a project like this. It even had the right type of fuel can!
It originally evolved from a failed radio-tank project, were I had already plated-off the sponsons, but the radio mas was so fragile and poor, I gave aup. With nothing to do, I turned it into a supply tank. Oh well, now we have a warning for the future...
Hi Ironsides, you are not mistaken, she's definitely Mark IV.
And I would go further and say that both the images added to the Mark I to III article are of Mark IV tanks, even though the other one is shrouded in exhaust fumes.
Never mind; they can hopefully be shifted to the Mark IV article (they also show the infamous "top tower".

Hi Kieffer unless Im mistaken that "supply" tank is a MKIV female.... a better scan?
Cheers
yes you're right. I wrote that when I sent the pictures, thinking it was the sledge it was all about, but may be my line slipped through I guess, which is very understandable as you people have a lot of work in transferring things!
I'll change the text in the Landships II article to reflect this discussion. I think it's worth keeping the images since the main point is the supply sledges. I'll add a note that the towing tanks aren't Mark Is since there is a dearth of Mark I tanks towing sledge images.
