HaT have shown their update for WWI Artillery Limber for their 75mm at long last. What do forum members think of a 4 horse team rather than a 6 horse team.
We already have the French ammunition caisson from haT but I am more interested in having a limber for my 18 pounders (and 4.5"QF when it appears).
Any pictures, diagrams of the British artilery limbers or ammunition caisson ou there?
Hi RCD check out the 13pdr article on Landships the first pic is I believe RFA (and therefore an18pdr)with a six horse team and a four horse team, the secound associated pic shows an 18pdr ready to fire... unfortunatly there are no chaissons to go with either guns....
Cheers

Buy a copy of : "Early British Quick Firing Artillery". It is the "Cat's Meow" on the subject and loaded with detailed drawings. If you're an artillerie enthusiast, go without milk, skip your house payment, sell your children, but by all means....., invest in this book. It will porve to be the most valuable selection in your library. Again, only if your are a dedicated artillerie student because it is out of print I've heard.
I have a small book about the Hertfordshire artillery; a yeoman organisation IIRC. Anyway, the point is they use a 6-horse team on everything as a minimum. For their 18-pounders in Mesopotamia they use two 6-horse teams per equipment (as well as footed wheels) and they still struggle in the sand.
So 12 horses per box would be great. Whether that is 3 limbers with 4-horse teams, or two teams of 6 doesn't matter. It seems as though wargamers outnumber modellers on HaT's forum, but I am not a wargamer so I don't imagine myself buying more than, say, 2 boxes, and probably just one. So a multiple of 6 in one box would be just dandy!
