I don't know if this is off topic or not but I just purchased the Osprey New Vanguard book No.170 Spanish Civil War Tanks by Steven J. Zaloga and illustrated by Tony Brown ISBN:978 1 84908 2938. While it contains a lot of pre W.W.II tanks it has a couple of French W.W.I tanks. Overall it is a good read so far and very interesting. I highly recommend it especially if you are like me and have limited space for books. The color plates are very good and have quite a bit of information about the subject vehicle.
I was thinking of getting that book, plastic fan. Hopefully the Schneider CA and the Renault FT are included. Does it also have the Lancia IZM armoured car, or is it just tanks?
There is a color plate of a Schneider CA 1 and Turbia tank. It also has 1 photo of a knocked out FT and a Lancia A.C. There are other armored cars as well. The color drawings are really good and can be very usful in painting and marking a model. It is a good book especially if you don't have much space for reference material. The historical part is confined to the tanks and there influence and outcome in the war. The bulk of it is tanks but there are armored cars in it. I hope this helps. Bison make a decal sheet for the Spanish Civil War that is to be released as Part 2 so you may want to check there site. May be our friend Michel at Black Lion will read this thread and bring out his own set. Hint , hint!
Hint noted!!! The only reason that I havenīt issued a Spanish Civil War set yet, was that there are some sets on the market already, like the one from Aleran. Nevertheless, the subject is too interesting to ignore... Only snag is that thereīs more information available than models... Steelwork from Germany do a number of excellent models (with decals!), but I still miss some of those marvellous improvised armoured trucks.
I agree Michel that there are decals on the market But Bison tends to drop them after a short time and there are a few kits in plastic. Attack make the Pz.kfw I Ausf A and Italeri have released the Pz.kfw I Ausf B. UM do the T-26 and the BT-5 as well as armored cars. Italeri do the Fast Build BA-6 and DOC do the CV-33 which is close to the CV-35. I find it easier to find the kit then the decals because the kits stay in production longer then the decal. Anyway If you decide to do them let me know as I will buy a sheet from you for sure.
John Jenkins Designs has started a 1:30 scale line of Spanish Civil War with a Panzer I and a command tank available. They are doing a whole series including a captured T-26 already past the prototype stage. There are expected to be armoured cars, trucks and a few aircraft.
Well Masterbox make a 1:35 Panzer I "Breda" (SSW facsist variation) for only.... Ģ9.99! And it has individual track links and photoetch grills! It also seems to come with parts to make a regular panzer I and enough window slats to make a Panzerbefehlswagen. Bargain!

Hi Michel,
John Baumann brought out at least four models of improvised trucks from the Spanish Civil War. Unfortunately he passed away in 2006, so I am not sure if they are still available...
I think this thread has moved a very long way away from the themes of Landships.
I was interested in this book only for the possibility of it discussing the use of the Schneider CA, Renault FT, and Lancia 1Zm armoured cars. But it seems like there isn't much discussion of those in this book.
