Weathering/Detailing Question
Permalink

I have been working on a 1 35 th scale A7V, Wotan.  I scratch built a replica interior and finished the camo, decals, and filter application to the exterior.  I am ready to apply my wash.  My question, would it be beneficial to air brush another satin varnish over my filters before I do the wash?

Respectfully,

Gary

This would all depend on the type of paints you used for the filters and what you are using for the wash

Thanks for the quick response.  My base coat was acrylic, the filter was an oil base, and the wash will be an oil base as well.  Gary

Gary,

I can recommend the DVD by Mig Jimenez, published by Vallejo, "AFV Acrylic Techniques" which shows all the painting + weathering techniques from beginning to end with acrylic paints.

Michel.

I can second Michel's recommendation on the Mig Jimenez DVD.   I just purchased this from AK Interactive US (http://www.ak-interactive-usa.com/index.html) based on this thread and I was surprised/inspired by the techniques performed with acrylics.

It focuses on Vallejo products, of course, but I'm hopeful I can pull off similar results with Model Master Acryl.

The only downside to this DVD for those in North America: the DVD is in PAL format and must be played on a computer.

Following that whole thread leads to some outstanding work with currently available products and is very inspiring. Thanks Andy
