Quite by accident I found this book:

The War of Invention: scientific developments, 1914-18 by Guy Hartcup.

Does anybody have this book? If so, can you confirm that is the Studebaker on the cover? And is this book any good? Is it worth $60 (on Abebooks)?

Certainly a Newton Cargo Carrier, but doesn't have the Studebaker's supposed armoured superstructure.

An intriguing find. Seems to have been around since 1989. Very expensive, but, apparently, Wiltshire Library Services have a copy.

One more reason, if one were needed, to like Wiltshire.

So the Studebaker remains on the border of obscurity and fable.
