M1 Long Tom/M1918 155 gpf

Hello has anyone converted/backdated WW2 Howitzers to they're Great War counterparts? The Long Tom has always fascinated me, I knew it was from a French design originaly, I didn't know that the American M1 followed so closely the original trails and carriage. I can't find much WW1/Great War models in 1:35th scale so if you build it they will come...... I would really appreciate any input/info/suggestions on this.

TIA

Jim

The French firm "DesKit" make a number of excellent 1/35 scale resin artillery kits of the Great War Period; to include the 155mm GPF.   Accuracy and fidelity of detail is superb;  if you don't mind working in the dreaded  medium.

Hi, no don't mind resin just it's fragility, worst thing with resin I find is the sanding but I saw article somewhere about sanding under water or with the tap flowing to keep dust to virtually nothing.

Thanks 28juni14 for steering towards DesKit.

dear colleagues,

Academy models build an 1/35 scale model of the us ww2 m 12 gun motor carriage, wich used an  american version ( almost identical to the original) of the French 155 mm GPF gun .

Attached some images of the monster.Hopeto be helpful,

Edsmile

Hello My friend! nice off you to stop by.  Yes I have 2 of that model one wll be the gun mototr carriage and the other the ammo carrier, that way I can use the gun to scratch together the GPF.

All i need are detail photo or drawing of GPF trails and carriage/ base/pedestal.

Thanks EDUARDO!

Hello friend,

I sugget you to search for images of the DES KITS (an old one I think) parts or assembly manual, in any modelling preview.

May be in this site....

regards!

Hello Eduardo!

Thank you for the input, Like the MK1 tank model Iam still gathering info when I can. I ordered the DES kit form Mission Models but have not received it yet.I hope to scratchbuild these and more some time in future. Its fascinating to see the evolution of these machines form one conflict to the next.
