Trying to find out what type of vehicle this is??

Hi, I'm trying to figure out what type of vehicle this is for a friend. Her family is of German descent and would love to know. The picture is ripped and there is no writing on it either. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

A very distinctive radiator cap ornament which might suggest an Adler but the bonnet doesn't look quite right for that. Sorry, I tried. A similar radiator cap is shown at http://www.catalogue-host.co.uk/richardedmonds/2011-03-26/lot_278 but that's no help.

The registration plate suggests a Belgian one. So does the number itself, from WW1. However it's not located at the usual place. Sorry, no hint. gemsco
