German War Rockets

Does anyone anything about German Congreve type war rockets like the one pictured on page 14 of Osprey's armies of east Africa 1914-18? My only other source of information is "The first golden age of rocketry" by Frank H Winter. This book does discuss the german rocket establishment of the mid 19 th century but gives little to no information past the 1870s. The rocket pictured in the Osprey book appears to be a development of these earlier programs. It shares the unique tripod like connection of the rocket to the stabilizing pole. I'm rather fascinated with the Great War ( or nearly Great War) rockets and would appreciate any information.

Here's the device. The book is online here.

Probably not much help, but in Eyewitness Swinton describes a meeting with Colonel Lewis at which Lewis demonstrated for Sir John French's benefit "a rocket gun, a type of trench mortar." No further details.
