It seems that I have 4 new private messages, but there's no sign of them anywhere, and the thingy that tells me I've got them won't go away. I don't think I know 4 people.
Anyone else got this?

I suddenly had 3 as well - 2 of them turned out to messages I had sent. Reading those dropped them off the list. That still leaves one. Tried "select all" and "mark as read", tried "invert" and "mark as read". No difference. Something's tangled up, needs an admin or maybe super mod to see just what. Failing that, it might (?) come good following the next maintenance session. I've noticed several times that this board has been briefly unavailable during the early hours of Monday (my time). Maybe that's the maintenance window.

P.S. And now that last one is gone, just minutes later, no further action ... it just decamped and got on its bike.
P.P.S I also noticed some of the previously-read new posts had "unread" themselves.

Yeah, I had that earlier - when I opened up my messages folder I found one I had received back in 2008 marked as 'unread', when it clearly had been read! So I simply opened it and closed it again immediately, which got rid of the 'unread message' notice.
They've gorn. I should like to think it's because of something I did, but that is hardly likely. Sorry about panic. Thanks for assistance.

I used to have one in Wales, but, after certain hurtful remarks, I'm not sure I have now.

It said one day I had 1 too but couldn't find it for the life of me. I deleted everything and whatever it was it went away as well.
Greetings, Josh
