Hello, There are some curious screws on a cradle of some ww1 guns (see attachment). I am interested in their function. I found these screws on austrian mortars only (305m M11, M16 and 420mm M17). There have been some differences in of their number (see pictures of 305mm mortar M11). It was a specialty of Skoda gun factory? I found similar screws on 38cm german gun too (see picture). Plese, have anybody a manual for austrian mortar M11?
They are "Schmierbuchsen".., or lubricant access points. In America they would be called Grease Fittings.
Incidently, three 30,5cm M11 or M11/16s remain in existance today. The one your photo illustrates at Roverto; one in Belgrade, and one in Prague. If there are others, I haven't heard of them.
Ach !! On an second glance I see the Belgrade example is in the photograph! My error!! Have you photographs of the Rohrwagen which stands beside the Morser?
Jack and Peter! The photo of the mortar in Belgrade museum isnīt my. I found it in a site: www.altonova.hu/forszazs/muzeum/belgrad_hk Mortar in the Belgrade and Rovereto museum is transport car. The mortar in the Bucharest museum is bedded on a original bed. There is version M16 mortar too!! There is only model of the mortar in Prague museum. One mortar was in the Vienna museum before the ww2, but German army it used during war. I think that this mortar in the attachment picture.
Peter, I am making 3D software model of this mortar. When I will finish then I will send some pictures and a plan. I attach meanwhile some pictures of incomplete model.
