Lewis guns 1/35

hello,

here are some pics of the Lewis guns I made.

The Emhar guns are horrible so I have search for good replacements.

I found the resicast WW2 Lewis guns and used these for the MarkIV tanks.

Just a couple of tips - the 'ring' on the Lewis foresight isn't present on the real thing (there was a ring sight, but it's a lot bigger and was used in anti-aircraft mode) - realistically it consists of a small notch, similar to this l_l_l.

Also, the Resicast ammunition boxes don't resemble any used in WW1, whether they're accurate for WW2 or not I can't say

Well ,the Lewis gun I have made for the Emhar kit is accurate.

I removed the extra ring.

For building the Lewis gun on the tank you don't need the ammo boxes so I don't see a problem.

If you compare these with the original Emhar guns........do I have to explain the differnce?

I have send a couple of pics with the original Lewis guns of the MKIV in Brussel.

They look great. And I'll bet that, given the exigencies of life on campaign, wooden boxes were fashioned as necessary for drum magazines.
Good work.

And that museum in Brussels is great, isn't it?   And free!  We parked for nothing almost in the doorway, made it worth the 2+hr drive over from Ypres.  And yet, for all the weapons, uniforms, tanks, guns and aircraft - which were superb - my favourite bit was the art gallery of paintings done on the Ypres front etc.  Fantastic; I wish you could get prints.
