A 60 cm gauge Pershing drop-side gondola
Permalink

Hi all,
As mentioned in my first post, I intend to build a diorama of a light railway line operated by the Americans. I just started with my first bit of rolling stock, a 60 cm gauge Pershing drop-side gondola.

The kit is made by Meridian Models and is sold under it's Maquette range. The scale is 1:76 and it will run on 9mm gauge track.

The deck and chassis. Started by drilling out the blind hole for the brake wheel.

Parts of he deck need to be removed for the drop-side gondola to resemble the prototype ... this is not required for the Pershing flatcars and boxcars.

Added the chassis side members.

And finally the front and back of the chassis. Added one of my W^D Models figures to give an impression of the size.

To be continued ...

Cheers,

Jeroen

I don't think anything has been done in 1/35. The problem is with railway modelling the most popular scales are 4mm=1ft (OO gauge) and 7mm=1ft (O gauge). This is also true for narrow gauge and there are some kits available in O guagebut not as many as in OO gauge. I will have a look through my N.G. journals to see if there is anything else.(a mine field !!!!! )

Many Thanks Barry, even 1/32 would suit me, but as I have mentioned elsewhere it looks like I may make the move back to 1/76 where I started back in the year dot
