Your offer of info on vehicles used by Pershing in 1916 is most welcome.
I just went to Pancho Villa State Park (!) at Columbus, New Mexico, and did a bit of photographing. Great fun!
One thing was disappointing: we went through the town of Marfa, in far west Texas, where Camp Marfa was located. I remember a motel there used to have an old US Army tractor-train wagon on display. It had hard-rubber tires, cast metal spoked wheels, and a link-and-pin coupler on each end. It's GONE! As is a photo of a gas tractor-powered train in use. (Maybe a Holt?) The motel has a new owner, but I'm still searching.
And yes, I'd be interested in anything you can point me to along those lines. Thanks!
I'll post the photos of the FWD Quad and their armored car replica if anyone's interested. Some of this is online elsewhere.
I am in the process of gathering as much information on American Armoured Cars of this period; I have just recently finished a large Article for Landships on the Cadillac Armoured Car of 1915, The Jeffery, Mack, Reo, Locomobile, Fageol, White, King, White No.2, King No.2: Armoured Car Articles are next. What exact information do you need?? Types of trucks, Pictures of Trucks, Tractors used, Pictures of tractors,Cars Used, etc, etc. Just let me know. I will be glade to send the information I have, along with the pictures I have. As far as the tractor’s used, and what that picture might have been is unclear, possibly a Holt or a Linn, quiet a few different Tractors were used. I will try and gather the information up you need, I have been having some problems with my DSL, If I can get that resolved this weekend, I will try and send you some stuff. Email me at this address so I can send it directly to you.
