Being a frequent visitor to your website I get the impression that many landship modellers like myself regret the absence of a 72nd scale Mark V tank. I've recently discovered that Modelltrans make one. I was wondering if anyone had tried it and could say what it was like? It is listed on both the Modelltrans and Tracks & Troops websites as 39.50 euros. I also wondered if anyone knew how to get hold of one without having to pay the ridiculous carriage costs of 20 euros that T&T are quoting.
I have done business with T&T and can say that the carriage cost of 20 euros is not charged; it is just used for the checking out process. The actual cost of postage is what is charged, and it is usually reasonably cheap. Also, if you are outside of the EU, you can knock 20% off the price of the model.
With regards to the model, I haven't got it yet. But there was a discussion of it when it came out. I believe people thought the rear of the sponsons was incorrect (like the Emhar Mark IV). Maybe they have been corrected.
It's a nice looking model, but I'd like to point out an assembly mistake pictured on the link PDA gave, just so anyone building one doesn't repeat it: the track links go on the other way around - with the humped part at the trailing edge of each link.
I've seen this mistake in the display samples for other tanks made by other businesses too; fortunately with separate sections of track it's not a problem with the model itself, just something the modeler needs to watch out for
