Thought you all might be interested in something I've been working on. I have decided to convert a Airfix Female tank into the MK I Female, "HMLS Kia Ora".
Although I have limited photographic resources to guide me, I think I have enough to make a reasonable representation of this landship. I have done most fo the conversion to the top of the hull (hatches changed/removed, additional bracing etc), and have taken the time to reposition the MG's so they are not solely pointing out at 90deg. to the sponsons. I am currently working on making the rear plate of the hull more prototypical before adding the oblong protective plate over the detail (any further info on what this box was put there for would be greatly appreciated).
I am still deciding whether I am going to scratch build a section of track as a master then cast the rest from that, or whether I just get some from Matador. I'm also looking at getting some flimsies and adding a partly pulled over tarp as shown in this pic here.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but I think you might be talking about the cover that was put over the hydraulic jack.
The Mk Is in Gaza had their tail wheels removed but they appear to have retained the hydraulic jack that raised and lowered those wheels (maybe they thought the jack would be useful for something). The jack (or pump, if you like) was covered with some angled metal which, from certain angles, looks oblong.
HMLS Sir Archibald shows it off in this photo:
If that pic doesn't show, you can find it in this thread:

Hi PDA
Yes, that is exactly what I was talking about. Thanks for clearing that up for me. At least now, I have an idea of how big to make this cover. This pic gives me a better idea of how big I will need to make it.
I think I can feel an order from Archer coming on for some rivets.
I will do.. I've had to take the better part of this week off due to illness, which also killed my concentration, so no modelling lol. But, yes, I will do.
I will also have a look for Plastikk's Sir Archie.. it will be good to see how they went about building some of the things that were typically specific to the gaza tanks.
