Hi everyone
I am new to this forum. My name is Dale and I am from Australia. I am attempting to build and restore a 1914 ? Fiat 18BL chassis that I rescued from a local scrap yard. Basically I have just a bare chassis with back wheels and sprockets however no front axle or wheels. Most likely all the running gear was stripped out many many years ago and dumped to make a hay trailer. I have as yet had no luck finding any parts in Australia and was interested in finding out what is left of these WW1 veterans around other parts of the world. Just going by Internet searches they seem to be a rare truck these days. Happy to receive any information. Thanks
I have a query about the wheels on my chassis. Most of the pictures i have seen of the 18BL the rear wheels have round cast spokes wheras the rear wheels i have are quite different. Does anyone know why they are different? I have only found i other picture of a 18BL with the same wheels which i will post below.
Thanks to Roy Larkin on the HMVF forum who identified the chassis as a Fiat 18BLR. This is the heavy haulage version with smaller wheels, heavier springs, and slightly longer chassis.
