new 18 pounder field gun positions from EWM
Permalink

New Field gun firing positions. Typical WW1 18 pounder gun pit with earth bank walls revetted with sandbags and wooden posts and the floor made from planked wood. It comes with some piles of spent shell cases .  Its a simple, common gun pit construction so could be used for other gun positions in other campaigns.

Made from Vacuum formed high impact plastic in Great Britain. Easy to paint with lots of detail in the casting. These will come in packs of two with accessories.

Looks fine and will be very useful.

Is the vacu material comparable to the old Airfix ones, as used to be included in their "Battlefront" and "Forward Command Post" sets in the 1970s? If at all possible, I'd prefer thicker material which would be more durable, especially when placing metal guns onto it.

Regards, Pat

 Afternoon Pat,

this is a different material to what you are thinking off.  This is a called HIPP - High Impact polysyrene Plastic. Its also thicker than the old Bellona/Airfix stuff of old. I am using my own metal guns on it with out issue. It will stand a lot more weight than any model gun you can fit in it. It also holds the paint better as well. Plus, you will find a lot more detail in this and my other Vacform models than anything else you might have seen before in vac formed plastic from that era.

I hope this answers your question?

Cheers

Paul T @EWMsmile

Paul, this looks like a great little diorama piece. I also like the look of these figures:

Could you tell me what figures are they, and where are they on your site?

Hi PDA, Thanks for your post. Thanks also to Pat for pointing you at my site where you will find a number of crew options for the 18 pounder field gun. Here is another link as well http://earlywarminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=366_385_377&products_id=2124 It's part of a growing range of WW1 subjects I make under my "Over The Top" range. Glad you like them. The battery officer with megaphone is shortly to be added. Thanks again for your interest. Paul T@EWM

I have some of these, and they are very nice. the metal accessories really add to the detail, they really compliment your guns and makes a model into a mini diorama, plenty of scope to add individual touches too, plenty of detail to suit all levels of modeller.

Thanks PDA.

Here is what they look like painted. Quickest paint job I have ever done. Base colour, two layers of high lights and thats it.
