Surprised to learn that some editions of E.D. Swinton's autobiog "Eyewitness" came with a dustjacket. Mine didn't. The pic below shows it, and I don't see much there that is connected with the birth of the Tank. Can anyone i.d. the stuff on it?

Ooh, ta, Ivor. Not one, but two dust jackets for Eyewitness. And Murray Sueter's book, which I wouldn't mind having a read of. I gather he was forthright in his views on certain matters.
TCT - Eyewitness is IMHO essential reading. Swinton is not one to understate his own achievements, and I think it's wise to cross-check some things with other authors, but he sets the story out meticulously. There are even some passages that are quite amusing. Not to mention a very useful fold-out flowchart that shows the various approaches made by EDS, Hankey, Churchill, etc to try and get the idea off the ground. A copy will set you back a few quid - I was lucky to get one for under £50. But who knows - with the centenary approaching, some enterprising person might do a reprint.
