Diary of a Tank Commander at Amiens.

As I mentioned a while ago, my neighbour's father served in the Tank Corps. She died a few months ago, and her son has put her father's memoirs together in a booklet and very kindly given me a copy. He lived from 1895 to 1989, and his life story is worth reading for its own sake. But I was surprised and delighted to see that he commanded a tank at Amiens. He was hospitalised with trench fever and volunteered for the tanks on the grounds that "it couldn't be any worse than being in the infantry."

There are 5 or 6 pages about his experiences with the tanks. If anyone would like to read them, I'd be happy to send a copy. Or maybe they could be found a permanent place on Landships somewhere.

Hi there

Yes I would love to read his whole story.

Shall I PM you my email address ?

Please also thank the son for making the effort to stop this story being lost forever.

regards Paul

Citizens!

I hope no one minds my resurrecting this.

A forum friend has asked if I've still got this, and I'm sorry to say I can't remember what I've done with it. I'm blaming a house move, but I suspect approaching senility is playing a part. I take it this was the diary of Cyril Cyphus.

If any of the friends who asked for a copy have still got theirs, can you pls let me know?

I thank you.
