TOG II

Hello,

I'm looking for a modelling-suitable source of information (drawings and/or detailed specifications) of the TOG II* tank as seen in

Bovington.

Does someone here know a book or webpage which could help to model this tank?

From all I read about it until now, it is closely related to the ideas and the men of the WWI-tanks, so I hope you don't feel my post

to be inappropriate for this forum, otherwise please feel free to delete the thread.

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Thorsten

Fine Scale Modeller had an article accompanied by excellent drawings way back in 1990. Some years ago I scanned the lot. As some scans are too large to post here and I don't want to shrink them as this means losing detail, I've uploaded the lot to WeTransfer from which you can download them (as a zipfile) using this link, which will stay active for a week:

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

I forgot - there's also an interesting but not totally relevant (as it shows an earlier scheme for the tank which didn't make it into the vehicle as finally built) photo I scanned from a book (possibly David Fletcher's on inter-war tanks) a while ago which I've attached below.

Do you have a particular scale in mind? A quick web search indicates something called "Flames of War", which I think may be a war game in 15mm scale; they seem to have a TOG II model.

Roger, that photo is very interesting; I've read that sponsons were intended, but have never seen what shape was planned - have you seen any pics for the sponsons on TOG 1?

Sadly, no, I reckon in all my life I've seen only three photos of TOG 1, and all show it with a large rectangular hole in the side, and I've never seen any design drawings or scale plans.

Roger Todd,

thank you very much, this is most useful!

I only wanted to start collecting references for this tank, the model is not yet more specified.
But it will most probably be in 1/35, either a plastic scratch built or a card model kit. Sadly, this
tank is really under-represented, as are most WWI and prototype tanks, in my opinion, so
references are really hard to find.

Best regards,
Thorsten

It's in 15mm/1/100th scale.

Be very much obliged if you could repost that link for those TOG drawings so I can check them over. The vehicle at Bovington got hacked around a bit and lots of the images online do not tally with contemporary photographs.

I've uploaded the scans to 4shared now:
