Just a thank you to Helen for the help this site gave myself and students as we prepared for the Great British Weld Off.
We had a topic of "Best of British" to design a creative fabricated piece and we decided, due to the anniversary, to go with a Mark 1 tank. The drawings from Helen were invaluable and helped us win this national competition.
As a thank you, I'm happy to share all the .dxf files that were produced to allow us to make this tank. We didn't set out to produce an exact replica of the tank, so the drawings are not 100% accurate, but they could save someone a lot of time.
I hope you do well in the competition. The Students did a great job, I love it.
As for detail, well it's a sculpture and they are about representing the spirit of the object or occasion being represented... this the finished piece does very well.
I love the display base with its poppy and ladders. I think you captured the mechanical strength of the tank perfectly.

Exactly what I was thinking - splendid work, I love it, it really captures the essential character of the machine, it really does look like something that's not to be trifled with!
