I have an off-topic kit from this brand and while of limited production run standard, it's rather accurate and well researched. And above all, very conveniently priced!
Rather gutted. I have been after this artillery piece for younks!
Only today I ordered the Minairons version and with bits from a Cromwell set I hoped to produce a reasonable offering. Looking at the pictures I will put this model on the pending pile and concentrate on the First to fight FT17(sic) and the Gaza male tank I also bought.
Noticed today on the Ace models site that the model is now at the production stage. Hopefully it will be out soon. Did you notice the US 155mm howitzer model of 1918 (wooden wheels)in the project page? Its a bit like a bus wait for ages and then two come along at the same time.
I finally got the ACE Models kit myself! I'm very glad, it looks great on the sprues. Any pitfalls during construction I should avoid? I see that the sprues provide two types of shield (bouclier) and according to the sketchy info on the "Canons de la Victoire" book chapter the flat option is adequate for a 1915 model. Any other differences with the 1917 modèle? In fact the shield is what looks to me the less accurate part, being too thick due to the limitations of the molding process. I'm considering making my own with brass sheet. Here's an interesting reference page: http://rosalielebel75.franceserv.com/artillerielourde.html it includes a side view drawing which are akin to those artillery manuals appearing in another thread of the 155mm GPF, from the Gallica website... does anyone recalls if there was a manual for this gun? Those PDFs were a great source of detail information... Thanks in advance!
