I don't remember seeing these before, and they don't come up in a search of the Forum. As ever, sorry if old news.

Shots of M. Boirault's second attempt. They show how tantalisingly close he came to working it out. It's not a million miles from "Mother". IMHO, anyway.

Interesting but it looks dreadful. More like a number of short bridges hinged together. How does it steer?

This projet was stopped in February 1916 (Box 94 AP 16 - AN Pierrefitte)

A report on this projet with photos from Boirault MK 1 et MK 2 (Box 1K 91 - SHD Vincennes).

These photos were done during a test in Souain (BNF on website Gallica - Photos agence Rol)

Is this the famous "Diplodocus militaire" project?

The "Diplodocus militaire" was the first Boirault attempt. There was an article on it on the old Landships IIRC. Then there was the Mk II. I'd seen a couple of photos of the Mk II, but these were new to me.

Steering? Not available on this model. It was, indeed, a series of hinged bridges. But if only he's thought of using two tracks instead of one full-width one, it would have been very like a rhomboid. The crew compartment bore quite a resemblance.

It's so conceptually different from the rhomboids I wouldn't even mention it in the same breath.
