St Chamond "Teddy" Camouflage?

After years of not building models I am about to take the plunge again.  My first attempt will be the Takom early St Chamond.

In particular I want to build "Teddy" as it would have looked at Laffaux.

On 3 May Teddy was extensively filmed and photographed and I want to check if my color assumptions might be correct:

This color scheme deviates from most of the published works which show Teddy's scheme prior to action.

Any help or input would be appreciated.

Bonjour Joe,

Put your color scheme in Black & White (grey scale). For me, the red is a too dark color

The straight around color was probably not black but only just more dark than inner color.

Choice of colors from Takom, for the Saint Chamond M2, are probably better.

"Teddy" is only painted on the right side ot the tank, and at Laffaux, drawing of the bear was not on the left side.

"Teddy" was painted, on the road,  between Missy-sur-Aisne and Condé-sur-Aisne.

The first "Teddy" (tank number unknown) breakdown in Champlieu.

Tank number is only on the rear door, and ace, Group number and Battery number are painted on the both side.

At Laffaux, Teddy was with narrow tracks. This tank received wide tracks after this fight . . . . .

Tracks are not good for Teddy in Laffaux on May 1917 but good for October 1917 (always in Laffaux).

For October fight, the only problem is the camouflage, who is no more the factory camouflage . . . . .

Michel,

Thank you very much. I've been carefully studying your posts on the other discussion forum for quite some time now.

I'm definitely not ready yet to paint. I was aware of the track difference and IAM hoping that an early set will come-out eventually from one the detail enhancing companies.

Part of my desire for the May action was the 17th BCP. I have a few figures I was going to use with the St. Chamond. Combination of converted WWII figures and Master Club.

For the October attack I understand that dismounted Cuirassiers were the Infantry force. For them it may come down to if I want to scratch build capote's or were they still wearing the Manteau or a combination of both.

Thanks again

Joe
