PanzerShop Mark B
Permalink

Hello,

After a long hiatus on this model I have finally started painting the 1/35th PanzerShop Mark B.  What renewed my interest was a color plate in the recently published Osprey New Vanguard book on the Whippet Tank.  This color scheme is of a Red Army Mark B captured from the White forces.  I have yet to apply the red star and plow insignia from my spare decals.  It will provide needed color.

Much more to do but I welcome your comments and suggestions.

Thanks,

Rob

Always liked the Mark B, much more than the Mark C 'Hornet'. It has an oddness about the fighting compartment that I find appealing.

Also, great to see an early British tank you can actually wallop a camouflage scheme on! 'Boids are great but, unless you model a 'Beute', you are stuck with painting them in a shade I refer to as 'Loaf', that or pale grey for factory fresh tanks.

Looking forward to seeing this model progress.

Hello Paul and Compound Eye,

Thanks for the comments.  This is an older PanzerShop kit.  The resin used is a yellow tan that had areas where the resin was not properly mixed.  No detail was lost but their new resin is a grey-green that is much better!  These WWI kits are made as flat plates so the parts must be dipped in hot water to remove the warping.   Also, I felt like I needed a third hand to get the fighting compartment together.  Otherwise, I had no real problems with this kit.  I replaced the Hotchkiss MGs and all the mounts with extras from Accurate Armour's Whippet.

Compound Eye - I know what you mean by a nice camouflage pattern on a British tank.  Funny thing is I am so used to the mud browns that when I painted this pattern it did not feel right to me.  Only after awhile did I really like it.

Here are two pictures of where I am now.  I added a second coat of Humbrol's Khaki Drab and then weathered it a bit with oils.  I've added highlights to the rivets and other areas.  Currently, I am working on the tracks.  Once they are finished I can add mud and grime to the chutes and around the base.

Gosh, I am rubbing my thighs AND typing...

I love the right side view. Some very orderly and effective pin-washing there.
