New Manufacturer - Flyhawk Models

...Or at least they are new to WW1 models.  Apparently they'll soon be releasing a Renault FT (which, unfortunately, they refer to as "FT17" disbelief) in 1/72.  Details, sprue shots, and built up views available on Henk of Holland's website:

It looks like it's going to be a beauty.

It looks from the parts there will be a possibility to produce a number of production variants: two sets of idlers wood and metal? possibly an FT mod 31 mantlet, two turrets Omnibus and Berliet? and MG or cannon armed.....wink

It is with the utmost reluctance that I chastise Ivor, but both the Berliet (polygonal) and Girod (circular) turrets were "omnibus," i.e. able to accept either the Hotchkiss m.g. or the 37mm without modification.

A couple of niggles to point out, one of which is just a personal preference for aesthetic reasons:

1) the tail skid is pitched at too shallow an angle - the upper section of the bracing is probably too long.

2) some FTs have a fairly flat upper track, whilst others have a more pronounced kink over the last return roller; I much prefer the look of the pronounced type, but the kit has the flatter contour and changing it could be tricky. As I said though, that is a personal preference, and is not a fault with the kit.

Apart from that, it looks fantastic - well detailed and well proportioned, and the kit tracks should be welcome to anyone who has ever complained about poorly detailed or poorly fitting vinyl ones. Might be the best FT kit in the scale?

Flyhawk have now released a second version of the Renault FT with the Girod "cast" turret to compliment their earlier Berliet versionsmile
